Blanton Elementary School, located in the Windsor Park Neighborhood of Austin, TX was a five year recipient of AISD’s Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) program. It provided structured, safe and supervised places for learning and social interaction to prepare students for 21st century jobs. The program was free of charge with classes of 15 or more hours per week, Monday through Friday. ACE offered extended learning opportunities for students and their families through innovative, hands-on activities that reinforce and complement regular scholastic programs.
By working with community partners, ACE provided enrichment that met community needs and greatly improved academics, attendance, behavior, promotion rates, and much more. Examples of successful initiatives include WE CARE (toiletries for the homeless), ANIMAL TOYS (for the ASPCA), CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR NURSING HOMES, and MCKINNEY FALLS BEAUTIFICATION, along with regularly scheduled classes for music, dance, writing (handwriting and composition), visual arts, mathematics, athletics, martial arts, and more.
BLANTON ELEMENTARY ACE PROGRAM WILL CEASE AFTER THE 2017-2018 ACADEMIC YEAR and the school is at a critical juncture to continue the spirit of ACE with the same type of low cost programming. With over 65% of our families quantified as economically disadvantaged we do not have the ability to subsidize at full market rates, and need to raise approximately $50,000 to cover deficit costs not directly paid into by participating families (estimated at $25 per child per week). Limited scholarships available.
To achieve this effort, the hardworking parents of Blanton Elementary School have created Blanton After School Enrichment (BASE).
Please consider making a financial donation to our efforts. Your gifts will provide Blanton Elementary students with affordable, quality after school care.
